The Center for Human Activity Theory (CHAT) was established at Kansai University in Osaka, Japan in April 2005 as a center that focuses on educational research and development and the development of human activity based on a practical approach to learning and education. From 2005-2009, CHAT will be involved in a joint research project entitled "International Joint Research in Innovative Learning and Education System Development: The Creation of Human Activity Theory," which has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as an "Academic Frontier" Project.
